Hey gang! Great news! We've passed the 100 mark with members! Right now we stand at
102!! That is really great news because the more members we have the better chance we
stand at getting that "official" sanction next to our names!
I've been asked to remind you all to please drop by the I-Maniacs fan club site at http://www.geocities.com/imanfanclub and see if your name
is listed among the members. If you do not see your name, please e-mail either Nebula30 at
quicksilver02360@yahoo.com, Fawkesgirl13
at sculder13@yahoo.com, Gina at ginam@support.ucla.edu, lonegirl189 at lonegirl189@yahoo.com or rileygirl at allycat90156@home.com and they will correct the
oversite. Also, Neb has been working very hard to try and make sure all the members' email
addys are listed on the members page. This is so members can easily contact one another.
If you want your e-mail addy listed, please let Nebula know.
Lisa (Smartypants) is slowly starting to gear up plans for ComicCon in July of next year.
ComicCon will be held in San Diego on July 19th and 20th (I believe). Lisa has come up
with some REALLY fantastic ideas (with help from other members) for some fun stuff for the
club to do while there. Some ideas are: a party with the cast and crew on a soundstage, a
trivia session (kind of like jeopardy) with prizes to be awarded, door prizes, and even a
private autograph session with the cast and crew. If you have any ideas of what you would
like to see or do at ComicCon please contact me and I will send your ideas to Lisa. We
have several months to work with, but we want to get some ideas in the bag so that when
January rolls around we can start working on making sure some of these ideas can pan out.
Lisa has been working very hard and I am very grateful to her for her efforts. Again,
ComicCon will be in July, but we have not as yet found out what, if any, discounts fan
club members can get on hotel rooms or airfare. As soon as we know, you will know. For
those who are curious, we have been told that the cast and crew will be there for the
event, but I'm not sure which day it will be. Once I find out, I will pass the info on to
you!
We certainly have a lot going on in the future! I promised you guys a great time and I
intend to make sure that that promise comes true! Thanks to ShelBel, Lisa, Lauren, Spud,
Helena and Gina for all of their help in setting everything up!
Stacey
<*><*><*><*><*><*> A WORD FROM THE PUBLISHER <*><*><*><*><*><*>
Wow, I can't believe it's already time for another newsletter, those two weeks sure did
fly by!
First, let me start by saying Happy Halloween! If you wear or see an interesting Invisible
Man related costume or have an Invisible Man related Halloween experience today, how about
sending us a description and we'll include it in the next newsletter.
Next, a brief note on the "What Happens Next?" section: it seems that either
everyone has been bitten by the shy bug or their dog ate their submission to this on-going
story. Everyone except R2, that is, who has not only been the only submitter for the last
two newsletters, but also sends her submission the same day she receives the newsletter :)
Come on all you enthusiastic I-Maniacs, give R2 a run for her money and get your name in
lights? uh? well? I guess there aren't actually any lights involved, but it would still be
nifty to have your name in the newsletter in pretty black text, wouldn't it?
As always, we welcome any feedback. Just send your comments and suggestions to imannewsletter@yahoo.com.
Gina
<*><*><*><*><*><*> SPOTLIGHT ON: The G.E.M.S. Society at http://gemssociety.cjb.net <*><*><*><*><*><*>
The G.E.M.S. Society web site is this newsletter's spotlight pick because it has a
mission, and a good one at that: to Get Eberts More Scenes! When you first enter the site,
you'll see an ominous warning box stating that the fate of the character Eberts for season
2 is presently undecided and urges all comers to help in the fight to keep Eberts around
not only by signing the site's feedback form, but by contacting the Sci-Fi channel and
letting them know how you feel about the character and its portrayer, Mike McCafferty.
After all, we can't even begin to fight to get him more scenes if he's not in the show
anymore.
Before filling out your own form, have a gander at the sentiments of all the supporters
who have made it to this site and posted words of support including a very nice and
appreciative message from Mike's mom (aww).
So, stop on by http://gemssociety.cjb.net and
don't forget to fill out the feedback form before you leave.
Got a great Invisible Man web site? Tell us about it. Send e-mail to imannewsletter@yahoo.com
<*><*><*><*><*><*> SOUND OFF! <*><*><*><*><*><*>
In this section of the newsletter we offer all of you the opportunity to give us your
opinion on various Invisible Man subjects.
Before we get into the new topic, let's check out the results of the last "Sound
Off". If you remember, we asked you to tell us which is your favorite villain:
Arnaud, Luke Lawson, Charlie Fogerty, Scarborough, or Claude. In the end, Arnaud won,
hands-down, the "villain everyone loves to hate" award. Although, it should be
mentioned that all of the other villains except Claude did indeed get some votes!
New Topic:
Which piece of hi-tech Agency equipment is your favorite? Is it the once popular, but now
hopelessly outdated slide projector? Or could it be the less than inconspicuous satellite
dish style listening device Hobbes uses? Maybe it's the almost toy-like in its simplicity
"tri-dimensional data viewer"?
You can Sound Off by sending your choice (as difficult as it may be, please choose only
one) to imannewsletter@yahoo.com by November
13th and be sure to put the words "Sound Off" in the subject of your email.
<*><*><*><*><*><*> WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? <*><*><*><*><*><*>
In this section of the newsletter you get the chance to get your creative juices
flowing and write the next part of an ongoing story. Below, you'll find the story so far.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it (unlike The Official, we give you the choice
:), is to write the next part of the story in 125 words or less. We will pick one
submission and post it in the next newsletter and continue from there. Ready? Oh, wait?
let me pass around these lovely cherry-flavored "anti shy bug" tablets. Did
everyone get one? Good, here goes!
The teaser:
Darien was a happy guy. He had just gotten a shot of counteragent and wouldn't need a new
one for a while, things were quiet at the agency, and most importantly, he was going to
spend a nice relaxing evening at home with a home-made meal and his favorite book
"The Story of Philosophy: The Lives and Opinions of the World's Greatest
Philosophers". "It doesn't get any better than this", he thought as he
headed toward his apartment with a bag of groceries in one arm.
As he unlocked the door, the scene inside made him stop in his tracks. "Aw
crap!" he said as the smile disappeared from his face and was replaced by a look of
dismay. His apartment had been ransacked and very thoroughly at that. After taking a
moment to digest the situation, he walked cautiously into the apartment careful not to
step on anything breakable, which had not already been broken, and checked to make sure
that whoever made the mess wasn't still there.
Part 2 by R2:
Glass crunched under Darien's feet as he made his way through his destroyed apartment.
Nothing had been spared and Darien felt violated. Unknown hands had rifled through his
possessions, going over his personal affects. The intruder, or intruders, had been quite
thorough. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest, his small abode abnormally quiet.
With a deep breath, Darien allowed the quicksilver to coat his body, neatly rendering him
invisible. If whoever had done this was still here, he saw no need to give them the
advantage. There was a small noise from inside the bathroom, Darien's head snapped around
at the sound as he began to make his way toward the closed door.
Part 3 by R2 (again!)
Slowly, Darien reached out and grasped the cold handle in his equally cold hand. Fear and
anger were vying for attention, whoever had ransacked his home was still stupid enough to
be here. Big mistake.
He flung the door open and blindly launched himself inside, grabbing a stunned individual
around their waist. There was a startled shout as he and the intruder fell to the ground
in a tangle of arms and legs, Darien could feel them struggling to get out from under him
and he knew that he had the upper hand.
Darien gripped a flailing hand tightly as he glanced down at the person who had destroyed
his apartment. His breath left him in a horrified gasp as he recognized the man,
"Hobbes?"
