A WORD FROM THE PUBLISHER
<*><*><*><*><*><*>

Hi Fellow I-Maniacs!

Let me start the newsletter by saying that all our
hard work in trying to get I-Man revived appears to be
paying off and is getting noticed by the powers that
be and that's excellent! Congrats everyone and keep up
the good work!

As far as newsletter business goes, it seems the task
of finishing the "What Happens Next" story was just
too daunting for everyone, so we'll have to retire it,
leaving to everyone's imagination the final outcome of
Jessica, her captors, and her would-be rescuers in the
form of the awkward partnership of Darien and Arnaud.

Well, we have a jam-packed issue of "Disappearing Ink"
with lots of fun and information. I hope you all enjoy
it!

Gina

*Greeting*

Hello my fellow Imaniacs!
As summer descends unmercifully upon us, we are still
in the midst of our battle to bring back our beloved
I-Man. Many of you don't know this and it's not
something that I have been telling, but when SciFi
cancelled I-Man I was so angry and upset that I
actually refused to watch the last 4 eppies.
Yeup, never saw 'em.
Thanks to Adel, I did have them on tape, but for
several months they sat next to my TV just starting at
me. It just hurt to much to think of them as the "last
four", I felt that if I didn't watch them then it
wouldn't be so bad. Kinda like sticking my head in the
sand.
A few weeks ago, I caved. I finally stuck in one of
the tapes and watched Mere Mortals and Possessed. Man,
those were two of the BEST eppies I have seen in a
long time, and its been a LONG TIME! Just sitting
there laughing and watching was awesome, when the tape
ended, the anger came back with a vengence. Seeing new
eppies was like a breath of fresh air for me and
realizing that SciFi had taken this away from me just
made me so furious.
I know that each of you are working hard to make TPTB
realize their mistake. We are making progress, we know
for a fact that Angela has commented about the mass
amounts of mail that she gets, the O:VI team did their
stunt outside of USA and reportedly are going to have
article written about it, but VisBall will have more
on that later.
In the meantime, we just keep right on truckin', doing
the best we can and never giving up hope.

*Board Udate*

I know that recently many of you have been feeling
that the Board and I have been leaving you guys out in
the wind, not returning emails and basically dropping
off the planet. I just want to take a moment to tell
all of you that it's not true. We are still here and
we are all working very hard. Sometimes emails get
lost in the shuffle, we share an email addy and when
you send us a note we sometimes "assume" that someone
else has answered it, thus the email falls in the
cracks.
We have now taken steps to correct the situation and
from now on your emails will go to the correct person
to be answered. If you go to the I-Maniacs website,
you will find our email addresses next to our names on
the "Contact Us" site. Just click on the person you
want to send an email to, it's that easy. Also on the
site you will find a job description next to your
names so you will know where to send your email.
You can basically send me anything, I love getting
email and you can send it to
stacey_meyer@metronetworks.com since Worf tells me
when I get mail. I try to answer it the same day I get
it, but sometimes it may take a day or two. All the
Board Members have a unique job description, so if you
have a question about something in particular, we have
a person for that. If nothing else, email me and I'll
forward your email along and let you know who I sent
it to.
We want you to know that we are here for you, you can
email us, we DO want to hear from you. You guys are
the reason we're here and the reason the fan club was
created. We're sorry if it has appeared any other way,
sometimes RL along with everything else we're trying
to do clouds our vision and we can't see everything
right away.

*Chat*

In light of the recent ineptness of those over at
SciFi in failing to re-schedule a chat with  Vince &
Paul, I have taken the hypothetical bull by his
hypothetical horns. Both guys are very interested &
excited in having another chat with the fan club and
they are both trying to work out their schedules to
coincide so they can do it together. We both know how
much fun they are when they work together! I will let
you know the date, time and place that the chat will
be happening, but currently it is still in the
planning stages.

*Merchandise*

I know it's been quite some time since you have heard
anything, but Adel is still taking orders for the
I-Man music vids that were shown at the Imanicon back
in April. Guys, these videos are freakin' AWESOME! I
have already put in my order and I'm waiting rather
impatiently for them to get here  *G*
So if you haven't done so already, contact Adel at
adelheide10@hotmail.com and tell her that you want
one. Heck, you want two or even five! The quality of
these videos is barnone and some of them will make you
laugh. There is also more merchandise up for sale on
the website under the "Merchandise" section. You just
click on a thumbnail and the picture will come up
along with the order form. Just print & fill out the
form, attach your check or money order and send it to
Adel. She will take care of you & make sure you get
your lovely presents.

Stick around, there's more great stuff in this
newsletter. Joyce will reveal a possible DVD,
MrsSpooky will have a campaign update as well as let
you guys know about some new stuff on the website,
Lauren has a "special surprise" and Shel will have
some merchandise updates for us. The gals over at O:VI
are sending in a special article, telling us
everything they've been doing.
We're still here and we're still going strong. Thank
you all for your continued loyalty!

ART CONTEST RESULTS & MORE FUN STUFF
<*><*><*><*><*><*>

Hi everyone!
First, the Art Contest!
We had 12 different people submitting 39 wonderful
pieces of art, and I'm sure you had a hard time
choosing just one to vote for.  We certainly enjoyed
seeing how much artistic talent is out there in IMan
land!  If you want to see all the submissions and
their artists then go check out the art page at
imaniacs.org.
And now, the winners, according to votes:
First Place: 10keepersoffice.gif by Sugar Hovis
Second Place: 2qscom2.jpg by Spotfish
Third Place (a huge honkin' tie):
4monroeboys.jpg by Rhianna
6darien.gif by Liz_Z
11rat.jpg by ratscape
12vince.jpg by DariensMuse

Once again thank you everyone!!!
And now, the MiSTings are back!
You might have noticed that there's an interesting
section in I-Maniacs Originals on our website.  Those
old-timers in this group remember doing the MiSTings
on the BBoard, and it's time to bring them back again!
What is a MiSTing?  Well in short it's taking an
episode of the show and making fun of it.  It's
modeled after the scifi show "Mystery Science Theater
3000".  If you want all the details check out the
MiSTing page on our website, it'll explain what it is
and show the ones we did as examples.  It was a lot of
fun back then, and it's time we had that fun again!
So our first new MiSTing in about a year will be
"Sense Of Community"!
Here's the basics on what to do...

Sit down and watch Sense of Community, making jokes as
you go. Type up the jokes in this format:
<What happens on the screen>
You're Name: What your response is.

for example (from the Pilot):
<Arnaud, looking at X-ray of the chip in his
intestine, "Patience.  It can't stay in there
forever."> Lauren: Diarrhea is like a computer chip
stuck inside you.  Stacey: (as Arnaud) Someone bring
another bran muffin!

Send you submissions to me at
OboeCrazy@worldnet.att.net by Monday the 8th of July.
That gives everyone about a week and a half to come up
with your jokes and get them into me.  I'll compile
them, do a bit of editing, and it should be posted
that weekend.  If I get your riffs I will send you a
confirmation e-mail, if you don't get one from me in a
day or so then
re-mail me!

Some tips and tricks to keep in mind:
-If you haven't done this with us before, go and read
a few MiSTings on our site so you can see what we've
done in the past (including running gags, opening and
closing sequences, and other things)

-Make sure the description of what's going on in the
episode is clear enough that I can place your joke.
If you're reacting to a visual, describe the visual
well enough that people who haven't seen the episode
(or just can't remember that part) know basically
what's going on.

-Remember to tell me how you want to be credited in
the MiSTing.

-While I try to get as many jokes in as possible, if
there are a lot of people contributing to the MiSTing
or if many people submit the same joke I will do some
editing.  In general it's first come first joke, so
the sooner you get your riffs into me the better.
However understand that to keep the finished product
clean and readable I may end up editing your joke.

-Don't be afraid to come up with more then one joke
for a line, or a two part joke that requires a "call
and answer" kind of thing.  In these cases you can
indicate someone specific you'd like to say the other
line, or just leave the name space blank and I'll fill
someone in.

-Remember we're doing this out of love for the show,
so try to keep your riffs positive.  Simply bashing an
action  (ie,  "That sucks!"  or "Oh come on!") or
being negative isn't as much fun to read.  Yea we'll
complain when stuff goes awry, but in general try to
keep the riffs upbeat.

If you have any questions just e-mail me!

Have fun!
Lauren (OboeCrazy)

SPECIAL EVENTS
<*><*><*><*><*><*>

Hi, everyone!!!

First, Comic Con is just over 1 month away! This year,
the con is August 1-4, with the preview night on July
31st. We're planning a get-together for the fan club
on Saturday evening, August 3rd. I'll advise all those
I-maniacs attending the con through the Yahoo!group
for the con regarding registration for this dinner.

We don't have word yet if any of the cast will be at
the con, but we're keeping our fingers crossed.  We've
heard the buzz that the folks involved in "Daredevil"
will be attending, but no confirmation as of yet if
Paul Ben-Victor will be appearing with the rest of
that cast. We'll keep you posted as we hear further.

For folks planning on attending Comic Con in San Diego
and wishing to attend I-Maniac exclusive events,
please email me at katrynsedai@imaniacs.org with the
following information, so I can invite you to the list
group for attendees:

your I-Maniac handle
real name
snail-mail address
contact phone number
age at the time of the con
email address

Your information will be kept confidential.

To find out more information about ComicCon, visit
http://www.comic-con.org/. Remember, registering with
me will not register you for the con. Be sure to get
your con tickets directly from the ComicCon website.
You can also register for a hotel at their site.

****

Second, we're still looking for site suggestions for
ImaniCon2003. So we can get rolling on plans for next
year, I will be accepting suggestions until July 31,
2002. Please email me at katrynsedai@imaniacs.org with
the following information:

City and State
Proximity to a major airport
Names of airlines that service that airport
Hotels in the area with room suites and meeting rooms
Prices of the hotel(s) rooms, meeting rooms & A/V
equipment rental
URL(s) (if available) for the hotel(s) website(s)
Discount on hotel rooms for con attendees?
Can we reserve a block of rooms?
Free transportation to/from airport & hotel?
Cheap eats nearby/walking distance from hotel
Tourist attractions nearby
Do you live nearby & can check out the location
personally?
Please try to be as SPECIFIC as you can (e.g.,
specific hotels and their urls, specific airlines,
etc.).  The more information you can supply will help
us "narrow the field" a bit. We hope to move the
convention around each year, to give everyone the
opportunity to attend the con.

We're not really looking for large convention centers
to hold ImaniCon. A hotel with meeting rooms which
could accommodate up to 200 people should suffice.

We have not yet picked a date to hold the con. This
will depend on where we eventually hold the con and
hotel and flight availability for that weekend, as
well as other dates of other major conventions.

Which brings me to...

****

Third, if you know of any science fiction, fantasy or
comic book conventions that will be held during the
next year, please let me know. We DON'T want to
schedule ImaniCon to conflict with another major con!
Also, we can post a link to the other con on our
website

Be sure to visit http://imaniacs.org!

Thanks and ttfn!

CAMPAIGN UPDATE
<*><*><*><*><*><*>

Hi guys!

Thank you so much for all your hard work, writing the
networks, and especially Angela Mancuso!  We never
know what can happen, but when writing USA, it can
only be good.  :)

We want to let them know that the fans are still here
and we still love Invisible Man.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, our
letters ARE making a difference. If you haven't
written yet (or are new to the club), please take a
few moments and drop a line to Angela Mancuso.  To
make it easy, Skates' site (below) has some awesome
postcards and flyers all ready to be printed and
addressed.

Here is the lady we're writing to:

Angela Mancuso
President of Cable Programming
USA Networks, Inc.
8800 Sunset Blvd
West Hollywood, CA 90069

I just know she will love to see the flyers and post
cards that can be found on Skates' site:
http://home.att.net/~skates/SaveIMAN.htm.

Please PLEASE write to her. If you write to nobody
else, please write Ms Mancuso and let her know that we
are still out here, we still love The Invisible Man
and we want it back.

Please also don't forget about the petitions. If you
haven't signed them yet, please go on over and 'sign
your name':

http://savethatshow.com (under Specially Requested
Shows button)
http://www.petitiononline.com/imans3/petition.html

You already know these, but for those who haven't
written yet, these bear repeating:

DO write a short, polite, businesslike letter.

DO tell them who you are and why you love Invisible
Man and want to see it return.

DON'T tell them that you are writing as part of a
campaign - they want to hear from individuals, not
groups.

DO let them know about the petitions and the other
efforts the fans are making on the show's behalf.

DO get your friends and family to write

DO let them know that there is a world wide fandom for
The Invisible Man.

Those fans from African, Asian, Oceania and European
countries, can especially help! In addition to the
addresses below, please write your satellite, national
or local networks. Get all your friends to write. Let
them know that Invisible Man is a global phenomenon,
and that there is a world-wide audience for our
favorite show.

Let's not forget to write to these good people:

I-MAN DVD ANYONE?
<*><*><*><*><*><*>

Hello Everyone!
I just heard from Underdog (lucky girl), who recently
talked to Mike McCafferty. He mentioned an idea that
he and Paul Ben Victor have been talking about. They
are thinking of doing a DVD. something along the lines
of Star Trek Mindmeld. and want some feedback on if
you think they should do this.
It would basically be the 5 cast members sitting
around talking about IMAN.
He wanted us to get the word out about this to see if
there would be enough interest.
Right now the DVD is not a definite thing, and there
are no details on length, cost, etc. So if you would
be interested in buyingsomething like this, email me
at invisiblemom@imaniacs.org with your handle and how
many you might be interested in.  *They make great
Christmas gifts*
Please remember that this is only in the idea stage,
and an email to me does not constitute an order.
Thanks!

WEB SITE UPDATE
<*><*><*><*><*><*>

Howdy all!

In case you haven't been to the I-Maniacs' web site,
you might have missed some important changes.  To
summarize:

We have our page with information on where to write to
bring back Invisible Man (yes, we're still at it, and
I believe we're making an impression :).  Thanks for
your support, and keep writing!

There is a new section with a list of upcoming
conventions.  Anyone having news of an upcoming con,
please write to katrynsedai@imaniacs.org and she'll
get it included on the site.

We have summaries of the episodes linked in from
scifi.com as well as those truly excellent reviews
written by our own OboeCrazy!  There can also be found
the complete Eberts Files written by our beloved Mike
McCafferty, Eberts himself.

There is an updated page with new merchandise,
available for limited times only, a message board all
our own, transcripts of chats held with the cast and
crew (both those conducted by scifi.com and I-Maniacs
exclusives)and original artwork created by your fellow
I-Maniacs.  To contribute to the gallery, please send
your submission to MrsSpooky@cfl.rr.com. If you like,
please include a few lines or so talking about the
piece and what it means to you.  Much appreciated!

Finally, big news!  We now have our own IRC chat room!
Yes, we have a chat room free of the problems we were
running into on the scifi.com server.  it's accessable
either via java on the imaniacs.com web page - under
the "Chat" link, or through your favorite irc client.
Point your client to irc.aXpi.net:7000 and join us in
channel #imaniacs.  Private channels can also be
created and registered if you like.  For information
on using irc on aXpi.net, check out
http://www.axpi.net/help.htm.  Many MANY thanks for
fellow I-Maniac Snowtiger for all her assistance in
getting this set up.  We couldn't have done it without
her.

SOUND OFF!
<*><*><*><*><*><*>

In this section of the newsletter we offer all of you
the opportunity to give us your opinion on various
Invisible Man subjects.

Last newsletter I asked you to see if we can come up
with a personal dictionary for Eberts. Here's what
some of you creative I-Maniacs came up with:

From bookwormgirl:
File Room My love, my life, my passion, my
                reason for living!
Shut up My cue to cease and desist all actions
(See Also: THINGS THE OFFICIAL SHOUTS)
Bobby Hobbes Expendable short man who thinks I'm
not as good of an agent as him, even
though I have more hair than him and I
                am smarter than him...yes sir,
shutting up now (See Also:  ROBERT,
                DARIEN'S PARTNER, PSYCH FILES #3
                through152183476.0394875)

From ImanCrazy:
Official Another word for God
Shut up A very unpleasant word
Staple Remover My little helper
Video Games A way for relaxing from a long days at
                work

From FawkesFox:
Shut up Eberts Phrase the official says to get me to
                stop talking
Shoom 1. Going quicksilver (aka invisible).
                2. The rush of the quicksilver flowing
                over one's body

From GinaS (hehe, had to do one myself eventually :)
Holy Toledo The perfect phrase to use during a
                moment of surprise

New Topic:
We've all heard of "Webster's dictionary" but who
really needs to know all those words! I think to get
to know some one, it would be great to have their
personal dictionary containing the words most
important to them and their definition of them. We
just created a dictionary for Eberts, now let's see if
we can come up with The Official's dictionary. What
words do you think The Official would include in his
personal dictionary and how do you think he'd define
them?

You can Sound Off by sending your opinion to
imannewsletter@yahoo.com and be sure to include your
handle and put the words "Sound Off" in the subject of
your email.

OPERATION VISIBLE INK
<*><*><*><*><*><*>

Greetings fellow I-Maniacs!

Welcome to the abbreviated version of O:VI's Mission
Status Newsletter!  A big thank you to the I-Maniac
fan club board members for allowing us to post some of
the highlights of our newsletter in Disappearing Ink
in order to keep you all informed of how the campaign
is progressing.

We've got all kinds of news for you, my friends, but
first of all we want to say how much we appreciate
your continued campaigning for the return of our show.
Because of your tireless efforts, we are being
noticed!  You have shown you have the spirit of Bobby
Hobbes in your veins.  You are not bailing on your
show.  A gold star to each and every one of you and a
big thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Media Hits

SciFi2k-SciFi2k (http://www.scifi2k.com) has come
through for us once again by running a blurb about our
latest press release about the I-Man Virtual Season 3
project on their site.  Tim has consistently shown his
support for our show, so let's show our support for
him by visiting his site and emailing him, thanking
him for all he is doing to help us out.

SixSiders Radio Show-Back in April, Brent at SixSiders
Radio Show (http://sixsiders.com) did us all a great
favor!  Not only did he re-link Vince's interview,
found at http://sixsiders.com/radio/guests.htm, but
for a while he also had campaign info with links to
several I-Man websites up on their main page.  But
that's not all, folks!  As part of their regularly
broadcasted radio show, on April 13, these fans of
I-Man plugged the campaign!  Please drop Brent a line
sometime at brent@sixsiders.com.  Thank him for
helping us out and encourage him to keep I-Man on the
minds of their listeners.

USA Cable Entertainment-Here's a media hit of a
different sort.  Recently, it has come to our
attention that one of the networks that we've been
sending our press releases to is actually aware of
them.  It's SciFi's own parent company, USA Cable
Entertainment!  It's nice to know they are paying
attention to our endeavors.  Now let's just convince
them to give us our show back!  Keep writing to Angela
Mancuso, folks!  This gets first priority.  Even if
you don't write to anybody else, write to Angela!
Thank her for her support of our show and let her know
that we still want it back!

Starburst Magazine-Have you seen the May issue of
Starburst magazine?  If not, there's an article on the
SciFi Channel with a small blurb about the campaign in
it.  Go to our website at http://qsm.shinies.net to
read an excerpt from the article in the full version
of our newsletter.

The Futon Critic-Recently the Futon Critic named I-Man
in their list of 20 series that they would love to see
on DVD.  Read what Brian Ford Sullivan had to say
about the show in the full version of our newsletter
located at http://qsm.shinies.net.

More Radio Announcements-Darienchic, our one-woman
radio wonder, has been at it again, getting radio
stations in her area to promote the campaign!  Read
about her successes in the full version of our
newsletter located at http://qsm.shinies.net.

Xpose Magazine-Congratulations go to another fan, Dawn
Rice, who recently had her letter published in Xpose
magazine!  Read what she wrote in the full version of
our newsletter located at http://qsm.shinies.net.

Petition Count

Well, my friends, we're up to 3,904 signatures on our
current petition!  We're very close to matching the
total number of signatures on the first petition,
which gives us a grand total of almost 8,000
signatures!  This brings us even nearer to our
original goal of 10,000 signatures-the number that the
Babylon 5 folks said they needed to catch the
attention of TPTB.

So if you've already signed, get all your
acquaintances, friends and family members to sign and
ask them to get all their acquaintances, friends and
family members to sign, and so on and so forth.  Ya
know, sort of like a chain letter effect.

Go here to sign the season three petition:
www.petitiononline.com/imans3/petition.html.

SaveThatShow.com Count

With 9,436 votes, I-Man has made it into the top five
at SaveThatShow.com!  Way to go, I-Maniacs!  You are
all awesome!  Already, many of you are eyeing the
number four spot and voting is still going strong.  If
you haven't voted yet, be sure to visit
www.savethatshow.com and vote often for our show!
Remember you can legitimately vote at least once a day
for our show-more often if you toss your cookies.

Network Blitz Count

Are you still mailing and emailing to the networks?
Well, we're still counting them.  So far, since we
started counting on April 2, 2002, we have sent in
1,430 letters, postcards, flyers, emails, etc. to the
networks.  Let's keep it up, folks!  Our efforts are
being noticed and we want to make sure the networks
continue to notice us!

Are your efforts being counted?  If not, please let us
know.  Send in your counts to ovi@shinies.net or, if
you are a member, you can post it at our Yahoo group
(http://groups.yahoo.com/group/operation_visible_ink).
Heck, we'll even count phone calls.

Looking for some great postcards and flyers to mail
out?  Go to Skates' site at
http://home.att.net/~skates/SaveIMAN.htm for a

New Task Force Teams

O:VI is happy to announce the formation of four new
Task Force Teams:

O:VI Cheerleaders-Perhaps you've seen these dedicated
gals shaking their silver pompoms and cheering for the
campaign on the message boards?  If so, you know what
a great job they're doing showing true I-Maniac spirit
and encouraging all of us to keep up the good fight!
Our Cheerleading Squad includes Alex, Gillian, Brenda
and InvisibleTitan.  Let's give a big hand to these
pompom waving fans!

Publicity Stunt Task Force Team-This new team is
headed by Kelly, our Publicity Stunt Task Force Team
Leader, who has been hard at work on our first
publicity stunt.  She's been doing a great job and
despite the fact that we've run into a few snags,
we're happy to say that the stunt will be going
forward and, barring any unforeseen events, we should
get it done within the next couple of weeks.  We'll be
posting more about the stunt later for ya'll with info
on how you can help with a special mailing that we
have planned.

Convention Task Force Team-This team, headed by
NekoSama, our Convention Task Force Team Leader, is
dedicated to spreading the word about I-Man and our
campaign at sci-fi and fantasy conventions throughout
the world!  Stay tuned for future announcements on how
you can help with this exciting endeavor.

Media Envoy Task Force Team-Our newest team is led by
Desi, our Media Envoy Task Force Team Leader, whose
college experience makes her perfect for this job.
We'll need your help with this long-overdue project,
folks, so stay tuned for future announcements on how
you can lend a hand.

New O:VI Website

O:VI is pleased to unveil our newest website located
at http://visible-ink.net.  While our first site was
designed for you, the fan, our newest site, the
brainchild of our talented PR expert, Pipsqueak, was
made specifically for the media.  This is the site to
which we want to direct press and media folk, such as
the networks, newspapers, syndicators, radio stations,
and magazines.  This site was designed specifically
with them in mind and gives them easy access to all
the information they need to know about our campaign
and the show.  Think of it as a virtual press kit!

Go take a look at it.  Devilbird has done a fabulous
job putting it together!  While you're there, go take
a look at the press releases and check out the great
new letterhead that Devilbird designed for our press
releases and other correspondence.

Well, that's about all the news for this abbreviated
version of Operation: Visible Ink's Mission Status
Newsletter.  These were just some of the highlights.
For the full version go to http://qsm.shinies.net and
read Mike McCafferty's email message, a note from an
experienced campaigner and lots more!

Keep fighting the good fight and remember:  we are
being heard!
