A Blind Round Robin is a serial story where a number of folks sign up to each write a part (could be 1 paragraph or 2 pages, up to you really), but nobody knows what the person before or after them has actually written -- they just get the last 2 lines of the previous part, kinda like a mad libs story. Then we'll put all the parts together and read them at the con. This was a riot at ImaniCon2002, so we want to do it again.
1. Say the last 2 paragraphs of pip's part are the following:
"I don't know what you're talking about there, partner. Bobby Hobbes didn't do nothing, but get some coffee and breakfast, well, more like brunch since you made me wait so long," he tossed the white sack at Darien. "Oh, and one of those giant cookies that you like." He grinned expectantly at Darien, who reached into the sack and pulled out a gargantuan oatmeal cookie. "What, don't I even get a 'thank you'?"
"Thanks, Hobbsey," Darien said around a mouthful of cookie and swallowed. "Now tell me what else you did."
2. On her due date, pip would send the following to the next person on the list (e.g., Kris):
"Thanks, Hobbsey," Darien said around a mouthful of cookie and swallowed. "Now tell me what else you did."
3. Kris would then have to start her part with those lines. By her due date, she would have to send the last two lines of her piece to the next person after her (e.g., Silver). However, Kris could continue to work on her part, polishing it up as she liked but never changing the last two lines, until the final due date (September 1, 2003) when she should have to send her finished section to the BRR moderator. But she would have to make sure that the last two lines were the same as those she sent Silver.
1. There is no minimum story segment length, but the maximum story segment length cannot exceed two pages, Times New Roman, 12 point, single spaced (due to time constraints at the con).
2. A maximum of 18 writers will be able to participate in this activity (due to time constraints), so first come, first serve!
3. Fic must have a maximum of a PG-13 rating (R & NC-17 would be inappropriate for some of our con attendees). Shipper and slash fiction is permissible, as long as it does not exceed the PG-13 rating.
4. You can volunteer to be a writer, even if you’re not planning to attend the con. It’s a great way to participate in a fan event!
If you have further questions, think you’d like to participate as a writer for this event, or are willing to help coordinate this event for the con, please email KatrynSedai. Thanks for participating!!
