Had an absolute blast at the con! Friday met up with
I-Mom and Kersi, who is from Finland. I-Mom was running a bit late and had
forgotten the business cards for the Frickin’ Friend ice breaker game, so my mom
pretty much asked everyone who was walking by in the lobby if they had a
business card until we had enough. After a few more people showed up we went to
P. F. Changs for dinner. Afterwards some of us went to help put goody bags
together for the con.
The con itself was awesome! Everyone who contributed to the goody bags did an
awesome job. We did the Frickin’ Friend ice breaker after most everyone showed
up, which is where you get half a business card and you have to find the person
with the other half. We then watched some videos of stuff the I-Man cast had
been in, including a Super Bowl commercial Paul Ben-Victor, a music video a fan
had made and the episode of Talk Soup that Paul and Vincent Ventresca had guest
hosted.
We also played an I-Man themed version of the Match Game, which got quite a few
laughs from the audience. Hair care products came up quite a bit…
We also got to talk to Mike McCafferty on speakerphone which was cool.
After lunch at the Cheesecake Factory (good food, big portions, but slow
service), we did the scavenger hunt which was lots of fun. My team tied for
second, and the winners got homemade dolls of Hobbes and Darien.
A little later Paul Ben-Victor showed up a little before it was time to head to
Sisley Italian Kitchen for the con dinner. He signed autographs and took
pictures with us. We then all walked over to Sisley Italian Kitchen for dinner.
We also met up with Eddie Jones and his wife Anita. The food was good and the
service was excellent and afterwards Eddie also signed autographs and took
photos with us.
After dinner we watched the pilot up in one of the hotel rooms and the first
part of The Other Invisible Man so Kersi (who had never seen either) could see
The Towel Rap. We would have watched the whole episode but most of us were beat
and falling asleep anyway so we called it a night.
I took lots of pics of the con (and the trip in general), but I’m still sorting
through them and trying to Remember names to faces, so it will be a bit longer
before those are up.
Hopefully there will be an I-ManiCon next year, and if there is I’ll be there.
I-Man & I-Maniacs Rule!
